Here's a site that takes shopping for baby to a whole new (upper) level. A part of the estyle.com "family"--the term used loosely since it's not a large family, really. Consisting of estyle as the parent page, kidstyle for toddlers through young children, and then babystyle for the smallest person in your life. With an editorial by Cindy Crawford, babystyle has been geared for the uppercrust (or those that spend as though they are uppercrust) from day one.

What's It Look Like?
Here's a site where the art department worked hard. Oh, it's not colorful in the traditional sense, but it is in the hip-modern-expensive simplicity sense. Muted tones are soothing to the shopper's eye and make reading the various options, categories, and deals a breeze. No eye strain here.

The opening page contains quick click links to various sub-categories including maternity wear, baby clothing, nursery, gift registry, gifts, toys, gear..., a little "steal of the day" icon is the only thing constantly in motion making it easily found by surfers. Other easy navigation helps including links to items in certain price ranges and bestsellers.

This one gets high marks for front pages...

A Note Regarding Prices & Coupons
I am not surprised that other reviews of this site have noted the price tags associated with items found on babystyle. This is not the Carter's outlet, nor is it JCPenney. Items found here are unique brands that generally aren't found in a typical mall setting. For the most part, these are items you see stylized so nicely in leading baby magazines and drool over as only a mother-to-be can do.

That said, designer items come with designer tags. The niche this site is filling really doesn't have much to do with the frugally minded, the thrifty of wallet, the penny pinching parent. However, this does not mean deals are not to be found.

Shopping without a coupon code of some sort at babystyle.com is like...well, it's like shopping without a coupon code. There are just so many floating around out in cyber space and on the greeting page of the website itself, that one does not have to shop without a discount. For a site that could have been snobby to the point of shunning deals, babystyle.com has done a good job of pleasing the bargain-hunting consumer.

Time To Shop...
Going for "gear" today and so I click the appropriately titled link. From there I end up at a page that may overwhelm some otherwise brave shoppers. Divisions are made into ten primary categories, with lots of sub-categories under those. Included again are bestseller lists as well as "Must Have" lists for various groups.

Within each category one can shop boutiques featuring only certain brands. These are the high end brands which often (read the fine print) are not covered when using a coupon. These are an especially fun browse when looking at clothing and bedding.

I'm looking at strollers today and the site has taken some of the task from me by giving me a category just for lightweight strollers. The beauty of a high-end site is in the high-end and often superior product available. While Babies R Us has recently begun carrying some of the better brands, the selection doesn't match what I find online. Here I find Peg Perego, Combi, MacLarean, Inglesena...brands which those in the stroller-know are easily identified as pricier but often more feature laden.

Purchasing...
At babystyle.com is really, here comes the term again, self-explanatory. That's a good thing. Once clicking a smaller photo of the item I'm interested in, I get a bigger picture---a very nice photo clearly showing lots of details---and a page allowing me to select color, quantity, and whether I want to add it to my basket or proceed to check-out.

Checking out is equally simple. After entering standard online shopping information and any coupon codes, I am a click away from making my purchase. Oh the beauty of online shopping! Standard shipping was fairly priced considering the size and bulk of a stroller.

And Now We're Rolling...
My box arrived in approximately 4(!) business days. I did not pay for speedy shipping but got it nonetheless. Great turn around time in the order department. As described and thanks to the lengthy information provided on the site, nothing was a shock or disappointment. Packaging was typical and good, nothing harmed on shipping.

So as we use our new babystyle.com stroller a few parting reminders....

Do not shop without a coupon....too many exist for this to be necessary...

Do not shop and grumble about the prices....this is not meant to be a discount store...

Do not leave without reading Cindy Crawford's baby registry...it's fun to see what a super model finds necessary for baby raising...
