I am writing more about IDT's long distance service than their internet service, but either way it boils down to their poor customer service. Two months ago, I received my normal phone bill with a charge on it for switching my long distance carrier. Since I had not changed my carrier, I contacted my phone company and learned that I had been "slammed" by a Global Crossings provider, but they did not list which one. A few weeks later I received a bill from IDT, my "new" long distance carrier. They wanted me to pay a
monthly fee and higher rates than what I had before. I called them and told them
what happened. They asked for my mothers maiden name for security purposes and
when I gave it to them, I was told it was wrong. I figured that they would not
have that information since I never gave it to them and asked to speak with a
supervisor. The operator spoke with the supervisor for me and informed me that
they would credit my account and then cancel it. There was no apology for the
slamming. After 8 minutes, an
operator picked up the call and disconnected me. When I called back, I was told
the approximate wait time was 2 minutes. This time I waited 10 minutes before
the call was answered. I let the operator know of what had happened last month
and how I was told that the account was credited and canceled. She informed me
that it had been canceled, but not credited. If it was canceled, then why was I
being charged a monthly charge for a month when I was supposed to be canceled.
She informed me that she would credit the account for both months. Again no
apology for the slamming, the hang up, or the billing. I have better things to
do than sit on a phone trying to correct someone else's mistake. A simple
apology from them would have been nice. Where-to-surf.com is an affiliate of IDT
