Junonia is named for the beautiful, rare seashell that washes up on the beaches of Florida. It takes its name from the Goddess Juno, protectress of the well being of women. In art, Juno is depicted as a woman of majestic size and beauty. This is why the word 'Junoesque' is used to describe women of stature and femininity. From these humble origins the plus-size catalog company, Junonia, was born. They exist to serve women size 14 and up.

Junonia's first catalog was mailed in March of 1995. Since then, they have grown rapidly serving plus-size, active women.

Junonia is committed to providing quality active wear. They use the latest in technical fabrics to keep you comfortable and active. Here is a list of their more technically minded fabrics to help you choose the best product for your active wear needs.

Coolmax® - This fabric dries at fives times the rate of cotton! Perfect to wear in hot and cold weather, it is designed to keep you dry, cool and comfortable by drawing heat-generated moisture away from the body. It is also a durable fabric that resists mildew, odor, fading, shrinking, and wrinkling.

Dryline® - This is a duo-component fiber with a hydrophobic fiber inside and a super-absorbent hydrophilic fiber outside. Which means the fiber itself is designed to pull moisture away from the skin without absorbing it to the core to allow rapid evaporation. It also prevents moisture from returning to the skin during cool-down. It is lightweight, durable and resists abrasion. Stains, oils, and odors are easily removed.

Dri-Release™ - A soft cotton-like hand makes this odor and shrink resistant fabric very comfortable next to your skin. It keeps you dry too by pulling moisture away from the body and pushing it through the fabric so it evaporates quickly.

Globe® Spandex - This spandex has been specially treated for high chlorine resistance to make this a great swimwear fabric. It is also highly durable, flexible, and continually bounces back to its original shape. Soft, smooth, and supple, it moves with the body to provide maximum comfort and mobility.

HFS Pad® - This fluid-filled pad eliminates friction, reduces pressure and absorbs shock without compromising weight, bulk, or flexibility. The anatomical shape is designed to protect sit and pelvic bones and weighs less than 20 grams. Lycra® - This fiber can stretch 6x it's original length! Highly durable and flexible, it continually bounces back to its original shape. It improves fit, retains its shape, and adds wrinkle resistance when blended with other fibers. It also resists abrasion, perspiration, and heat. Microtherm™ - This fiber is designed to wick moisture away from your body to keep you dry. It is also very lightweight and feels soft to the touch. Nylon Ripstop - This fabric's wind and water resistance is what makes it great for rainy days. Due to its lightweight, you can easily pack it up and take it anywhere. It is designed to resist the spreading of rips and tears. Polartec® - This lightweight micro-fiber fleece is engineered to provide first or second layer insulation in a wide range of cold-weather activities. It's a buttery soft, highly breathable, non-pilling, anti-bacterial, odor-resistant fabric. It also has excellent moisture management properties.

Polypropylene - Lighter than water, it gives you the coverage you need without the added bulk! It is strong and resists abrasion. It pulls moisture away from the skin and dries fast. It's odor-, chlorine-, and UV ray resistant. The color is built right into the yarn to resist fading. This smooth and shiny fiber works hard in our swimwear.

Quik Wik™ - Made exclusively for us! This fabric has many beneficial properties. It is the lightest of all apparel fibers. It is hydrophobic so it pushes moisture away from your skin and dries quickly. It is impervious to molds, mildews and to odor causing bacteria. It is warmer than nylon to take the chill out of early morning practice. It also has superior colorfastness. The texture of the fiber gives this fabric a dull cotton-like appearance.

Solarveil® - This lightweight, quick-drying fabric works better than sunscreen. It blocks 75-80% of harmful UVA and UVB rays while being sheer enough to let the breezes flow. The fabric has been treated to enhance the transport of moisture away from your skin to keep you cooler. Wrinkle resistant and easy to care for.

Supplex® - This packable fabric has the soft touch of cotton combined with the strength, durability, and performance advantages of nylon. It will not wrinkle, shrink, fade, or pill. It is breathable while being odor-, wind-, and water-resistant. Easy to wash and dries faster than cotton. Also resists abrasions, tears, and punctures Wickstar® - Lighter than water, it gives you the coverage you need without the added bulk! It is strong and resists abrasion. It's odor-, chlorine-, and UV ray resistant. The color is built right into the yarn to resist fading. It feels warmer than nylon in the water and dries in minutes.
