I’ve been a Palm user for almost 4 years now and although I had hesitated on the past on changing to other companies (HP’s Jornada, Handspring, etc.), I just can’t do it especially after visiting the Palm online store every now and then.

In here you will find everything, from cases to styli pens for your handheld device. Even though people think manufacturer’s prices are way high (well, in fact they are) you can see that all gadgets, software, and peripherals for every Palm model can be found here for really competitive prices. Of course I’m constantly tempted to look for prices on other stores but I always end up buying the accessories through this one. I prefer to pay an extra $5 for an original replacement part than purchasing it from other stores that can leave me hanging without any warranties if the part isn’t compatible with the equipment or causes any malfunction.

I’ve used their online services every month or so since this is by far one of the most dedicated companies that is always on a constant lookout for new things for their models. Navigation through the site couldn’t be easier and the pop-up menu on the left side takes you exactly where you want to and is divided according to the model you own.

One of the great things about the Palm Online Store is that they are regularly adding special deals on different types of product, from covers to expansion cards. If you visit the site on a regular basis as I do, you will find great deals that just can’t be missed (from 20% off the regular price).

Customer Service
This is where they really excel… I receive replies to my messages in less than 24 hours. Always courteous and willing to offer me further help to satisfy my needs as a Palm user. They use this method to contact their customers but also to obtain feedback about the new products and/or services they offer and how they can do a better job.

Ordering Process
Just point and click. A great feature is that there is an Order Status link where you can check if your order is still processing or on its way to you. If for any reason the site stops responding and you don’t know if the order did go through, just click Customer Service and they will help you complete the transaction. For example, I once placed an order for a leather cover but apparently on the final step, their server stopped responding and I received a Can’t find server error page. Not sure if the order was transmitted correctly, I sent an email and they verified it and shipped it in less than 12 hours after this error. Now that’s peace of mind (at least for me).

But…
One problem I think that really reduces the quality of their service is the amount of images they place on their pages and the size of each one of them. Although this adds a great look, for me is kind of a problem. If you visit the site, you will notice that there are some pics that are just too big and therefore eat a lot of bandwidth. Therefore you will find that looking for just a cover can take a lot of time and you will spend an extra couple of seconds to see any page. Of course this will vary according to the way you connect to the net (cable, modem, etc.) as for some people this won’t be much of a dilemma.

My last words…
If you own a Palm then you must try the Palm Online Store. It will surprise you the amount of accessories and software is available over there. For the meantime and up until I change my mind (to jump to any other handheld) this is by far the ultimate site for every Palm user.
