Simons is a good on-line store it sells jewelry, tableware, gifts and
collectables, and home décor items. The home page isn’t that appealing
at the top they have pictures of the various areas you can go to: jewelry,
registry, tableware, gift and collectibles, home décor, gift certificate,
catalogs, and clearance. The rest of the page is the search engine with a
blue background.
The search engine is very good you can enter an item you are looking for
and a price range and the section you want appears. Once in the shop the
pictures of items are very good, and you can click on the item to enlarge
the picture. The pictures show good detail of what the product looks like.
I found the pictures and description of products in the jewelry and the
gift and collectibles section very helpful. The pictures in the home décor
section are excellent but the description of the items is lacking.
The store can be pricey, but some deals can be found also. I bought my
wife a baby pearl necklace with gold beads for $55.00. This was a good
deal because other places I looked wanted at least that and most wanted
$100.00. I looked both on-line and in the brick and mortar stores. The
package came in a beautiful box, and within the specified time of
delivery. I ordered it in the on Feb 2 for delivery by Valentines Day. It
came on Feb. 10, which made me very happy. I have wanted to give my wife
real pearls for many years because when we where just engaged I gave her a
faux pearl necklace which she thought was real until I confessed it was
faux. (I couldn’t afford pearls back then.) I was very happy with the
packaging and also how the necklace looked. I have also purchased a ruby
bracelet for my wife since that time; it to came in plenty of time and was
packaged well.
You will receive catalogs in the snail mail quite often from them, which
depending on how you look at it can be annoying. I just throw it away if I
am not in the market for anything. Once in a while you will receive emails
of sales they have going, but they don’t bombard you. If you see an item
in the catalog that you want to purchase they have an area where you can
order on-line from the catalog. I think this is a nice feature saves you
time. I personally haven’t used this service because I prefer shopping
on-line than looking through catalogs.
I have not had any need to use customer service because my orders have
been handled proficiently and I have had no need to contact them. After
ordering they send you an email confirming your order and tell you how to
track your purchase on their site. I used this service and it was very
easy to use. It quickly gave me my information and also provided a link to
the USPS site to track the progress with them. There is a shipping and
handling charge based on the amount you spend. I paid $5.25 for priority
mailing, which isn’t too bad.
I have only ordered jewelry from them so I really can not say what quality
there other merchandise is in, but based on their jewelry I would say it
would probably be top caliber also.
Another nice feature they have is their registry if you are getting
married you can enter their registry, and people who are traveling from a
far can see what you need. It is just like registering in the local
department store, but those people who live a distance away can also take
advantage of the service. No we didn’t use it back when we got married,
we didn’t own a computer at the time.
I would say Ross Simons is a good on-line store based out of Rhode Island,
where you can find some nice Jewelry to give to your loved one. Also,
other merchandise you may be in the market for such as good tableware or
collectables. They sell Hummel figurines and Waterford crystal.
Check the site out and see what you think.
Review
written by George. I
first heard about Ross-Simons from my sister's mother-in-law. I was about
to be married, and my sister told me that this was a great source for
china, silver and crystal for a great discount.
When I visited the site, I was pleased to find that they had all our
selections. I was able to do a gift registry online, and although I
suspect that my sister's mother-in-law is the only one who ever bought
from them, I was sent a complimentary gift certificate.
After my wedding, I used the gift certificate to order a butter dish.
Unfortunately, the order was lost. Then when it was found again, the
butter dish was on backorder. I was given an additional amount in credit
for my trouble, and I was able to order cappuccino mugs to match our
china. The cappuccino mugs arrived quickly, at no cost to me.
I still had not received my butter dish, so I called customer service. I
talked with a gal who usually did not work customer service, but the
warehouse instead. She personally walked over to the warehouse and found a
butter dish for me. I got that butter dish within a few days.
About a week later, I received yet another butter dish. I called to tell
them of the error and find out how they wanted it sent back. They told me
just to keep it. I now have two butter dishes.
Now, I admit, at this point I have yet to spend an actual dime with
Ross-Simon. I keep checking the status of my china and flatware, but
honestly, I can get it cheaper (or at least as cheap) at my local
department store. And honestly, I wonder about their customer service
since my butter dish order turned into such a saga.
I completely recommend signing up for their wedding registry. Besides
being a great place to get gifts, the bride receives a gift certificate.
That's a really nice bonus.
The only really bad thing is that now I get a Ross-Simon catalog weekly,
and their stock doesn't change weekly!
